Visa Expiry Countdown
Count the days until your visa expires and check whether it is still valid, expiring today, or already expired.
Visa expiry and permitted stay rules vary by country, visa type, nationality, and entry conditions. This calculator provides a general countdown only and is not legal or immigration advice.
Defaults to today's date if left blank.
What Visa Expiry Means
Visa expiry is the date after which a visa is no longer valid for entry or stay. Visas are typically issued with a fixed expiry date, and once that date passes, the visa cannot be used even if it was never fully utilized.
Visa Expiry vs. Permitted Stay
Visa expiry and permitted stay are two separate concepts. Visa expiry is the last date the visa itself can be used, while permitted stay is the maximum length of time you can remain in the country during a single visit. A visa can remain valid for future entries while your permitted stay for a current visit has already been reached, or your permitted stay for a visit could still be available even as the visa nears its expiry date.
How The Calculator Works
Enter your visa expiry date. Optionally, enter a current date to check against a date other than today. The calculator counts the calendar days between the current date and the visa expiry date and shows whether the visa is valid, expires today, or has already expired.
FAQ
What does visa expiry mean?
Visa expiry is the date after which a visa can no longer be used to enter or remain in a country. Once a visa expires, it is no longer valid, regardless of how much of your permitted stay you have used.
Why is visa expiry different from permitted stay?
A visa's expiry date is the latest date the visa itself can be used. Your permitted stay is a separate limit on how long you can remain in the country once you enter, such as 90 days per visit. A visa can still be valid (not expired) while your permitted stay for a particular visit has already run out, and vice versa.
How does the calculator work?
Enter your visa expiry date and, optionally, a current date to check against. If you do not provide a current date, today's date is used. The calculator counts the calendar days between the current date and the visa expiry date and shows whether the visa is valid, expires today, or has already expired.
Does a valid visa guarantee I can enter or stay in the country?
Not necessarily. Visa validity is only one of several requirements for entry and stay, alongside passport validity, permitted stay limits, and other entry conditions set by the destination country. Always check the specific requirements for your situation before you travel.
